The present disclosure provides a detailed description of techniques used in methods, systems, and computer program products for a multi-server fractional subdomain DNS protocol. receiving, over a network, a first URL containing a fractional subdomain portion in a fractional subdomain position; parsing the fractional subdomain portion into a plurality of tokens comprising at least a first token and a second token; generating a data structure to contain a second URL, wherein the second URL comprises at least one wildcard character in the fractional subdomain position and at least one of the plurality of tokens in the fractional subdomain position; and matching the second URL to a third URL associated to at least one resource.
