Hypolipaemic aryloxy(thio)acetic acid derivs. .M3A. are new cmpds. of formula (I) (where R1 is 1-10C opt. branched alkyl, 5-7C cycloalkyl or benzyl; R2 is H or Me; R3 is H or 1-3C alkyl; X is O or S) including the alkali and alkaline earth salts of the free acids. Prefd. cpds. are: 2-(fluorene-2-yloxy)-heptanoic and decanoic and 2-(fluorene-2-ylthio)-heptanoic and dodecanoic acids.
