PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisturizing agent that causes little irritation in skin or mucous membrane, gives moisture to skin, good use feeling, little stickiness after use, excellent long-lasting moisture retention and improving effect of dry rough skin, and to provide a cosmetic in which the moisturizing agent is blended.SOLUTION: There is provided a moisturizing agent that includes a fermented fig extract produced by extracting from a fermented fig fruit by using alcohol-water, the fermented fig being obtained by fermenting a fig fruit by using at least one type or more of yeasts selected from Schizosaccharomyces octosporus, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, Pichia kudriavzevii, Candida utilis, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and the like, as active ingredients.
