In a communication system in which a base station and a terminal are in communication, there are provided: a terminal; a base station; a communication method; and an integrated circuit; and the base station and the terminal can perform received power management and reporting of measurements in an efficient fashion. In a terminal that performs communication with the base station, in a given cell, there is provided a receiving unit (205) that performs received power measurement based on a first signal. The setting of a second signal is set in the receiving unit (205). If the aforementioned given cell is not set to a prescribed carrier type, received power measurement is performed based on the aforementioned first signal. However, if the aforementioned given cell is in fact set to the aforementioned prescribed carrier type, received power measurement is performed based on the aforementioned second signal.
