PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tuning-fork type piezoelectric vibration piece which prevents a package mounted with the tuning-fork type piezoelectric vibration piece from colliding with vibration arms even if impact is applied to the tuning-fork type piezoelectric vibration piece, and to provide a mounting method of the tuning-fork type piezoelectric vibration piece.SOLUTION: A piezoelectric vibrator comprises a tuning-fork type piezoelectric vibration piece housed in a package. The tuning-fork type piezoelectric vibration piece includes: a tuning-fork type piezoelectric vibration piece main body having a plurality of vibration arms; a first short side portion formed along a direction intersecting with a direction in which the vibration arms extend and connected to the piezoelectric vibration piece main body; long side portions formed toward the direction in which the vibration arms extend from the first short side portion to portions ahead of leading ends of the vibration arms along the direction in which the vibration arms extend; and a second short side portion formed by extending leading ends of the long side portions at the portions ahead of the leading ends of the vibration arms along the direction intersecting with the direction in which the vibration arms extend. A lower surface of the second short side portion is fixed to the package.
