<p>Provided is an interlayer optical signal device, which has high performance, while suppressing an increase of manufacturing cost as much as possible. This interlayer optical wave coupling device is characterized in being provided with: a substrate; a lower cladding that is disposed on the substrate or in the substrate; a first core, which is disposed on the lower cladding, and which has a first sharp-pointed structure, said first core being formed of silicon; an interlayer cladding, which is formed on the lower cladding, and which covers at least the first core; a third core, which is formed on the interlayer cladding, and which has a second sharp-pointed structure, said third core being formed of silicon; and a polymer layer, which covers the lower cladding and the third core, and which constitutes the second core. The interlayer optical wave coupling device is also characterized in that: the first sharp-pointed structure and the second sharp-pointed structure are disposed such that the structures do not overlap each other in a planar view; a refractive index of the second core is smaller than a refractive index of the first core and a refractive index of the third core, and is larger than a refractive index of the lower cladding; and a refractive index of the interlayer cladding is smaller than the refractive index of the second core, and is equal to or larger than the refractive index of the lower cladding.</p> |
