[Also in Divisions A5 and B8] A coffin board 9 is provided with an edgeoverlapping moulding strip 6 secured to one surface by adhesive. The moulding strip is secured by heat setable adhesive using apparatus comprising a moulding strip and board locating electric terminal strip 8, a second electric terminal strip 12 movable into a position in which it bears on an edge of the moulding strip, and a linearly movable member 15 which can press the strip 6 into contact with the board 9. The board 9 is positioned on the terminal 8 against a vertical member 7 so that one surface of the board is flush with a vertical surface (11) Fig. 3 (not shown) of a groove (10) cut into the terminal 8 for receiving the moulding strip in an edge overlapping position. The terminal strip 12 is carried by a plurality of pivoted arms 13, some at least of which are each acted upon by jack 14 to cause the strip 12 to press on the upper edge of the moulding strip 6 and to hold the board 9 against the member 7. The member 15 has a resilient edge 16 which is brought into contact with the strip 6 by jacks 17. Pressure is exerted on the strip 6 by expansion, by air or liquid, of a resilient tube 18. With the apparatus in operative position, the adhesive previously applied to the surfaces of the board 9 and the strip 6 to be adhered is set by connecting a radio frequency generator between terminal strips 8 and 12 causing the generation of heat in the adhesive through the flow of radio frequency current. Specification 804,611 and 1,253,672 are referred to.</p> |
