A device for connecting in series with a double-acting piston and cylinder unit 4, 56 to indicate its position, comprises a cylinder 1 containing a non-rotatable piston 3 which moves in dependence upon the quantity of liquid supplied to or exhausted from the unit 4, 56, thereby to cause rotation of a helical spindle 2 coupled to drive an external indicator pointer 20. Rotation of the piston 3 is prevented by a hollow tube 26 extending between cylinder ends 36, 38 and providing through ports 40, entry and exit to one end of the cylinder. To allow automatic resynchronization of the pistons 3, 56, oppositely opening non-return valves (12) are disposed in passages through the piston 3. A magnetic port (60) may be mounted on the spindle whereby the pointer 20 is driven by magnetic attraction, Fig.4 (not shown).</p> |
