[Also in Division E2] In a combined steering-column lock and ignition switch, insertion of the key closes an additional circuit to give an alarm (when the vehicle door is opened) to remind the driver of the key's presence in the lock. As shown, the end 16 of the key raises a pin 29 sliding in a bore in a rotor 17 which is driven by the lock barrel and serves to raise the lock-bolt 21 and operate the ignition switch 25. The pin 29 lifts follower 32 which closes normally-open contact 35. In a modification (Fig. 7, not shown) the follower is lifted by one of the barrel tumblers.
