<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling apparatus which evades an adverse influence on the characteristics of a material and/or flatness by forcedly removing a cooling medium, prevents dripping of the cooling medium at an early stage, and also improves productivity of metallic products, and a method of using the cooling apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The cooling apparatus is installed above a line on which a material to be cooled is moved, has a cooling medium storage container in which the cooling medium for cooling the material to be cooled moving on the line is circulated, and cools the material to be cooled by discharging the cooling medium from a plurality of holes provided to the cooling medium storage container. In the cooling apparatus, an air introducing pipe in which the air is circulated is connected to the cooling medium storage container, and an air introducing valve for switching ON/OFF of air introduction is connected to the air introducing pipe, and the cooling apparatus has a pressure reducing valve with which the pressure in the cooling medium storage container can be reduced. There is also provided the method of using the cooling apparatus, in which after introducing the air into the cooling medium storage container by opening the air introducing valve and discharging the cooling medium which is present in the cooling medium storage container through holes to the outside of the cooling medium storage container, the pressure reducing valve is opened when the closing operation of the air introducing valve is started and thereafter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
