PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device that can enhance luminance, and to provide a projector including the light source device.SOLUTION: A projector according to the present invention includes a light source device, a display element, projector control means and the like. The light source device is configured to comprise: a fluorescence wheel 71 that has fluorescence emitting parts 1B and 1G, in which a fluorescent body layer 131 is formed on a rotation controllable base material that emits a green color and a blue color by reception of excitation light; a first light source that irradiates a fluorescent body of the fluorescent body layer 131 with excitation light of an ultraviolet region; a second light source that emits a red color; a condensing optical system that condenses light from the fluorescence wheel 71 and light from the second light source on the same light path; and light source control means that individually controls light emission of the first light source and the second light source. The light source control means lights up the second light source at a time when radiating the light from the first light source so as to include a period of time during which one of boundaries between the fluorescence emitting part 1B and the fluorescence emitting part 1G is irradiated with the light from the first light source and synthesizes the green color and blue color from the fluorescence wheel 71 and the red color from the second light source to generate a white color. |
