<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new liquid phase polymerization method of polyisobutylene. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a step of providing a feedstock containing isobutylene; a step of providing a catalyst composition containing a complex of BF<SB POS="POST">3</SB>and a complexing agent for BF<SB POS="POST">3</SB>; a step of introducing the feedstock and the catalyst composition to a remaining reaction mixture in a reaction zone; a step of generating a homogeneously mixed reaction mixture material in the reaction zone by homogeneously mixing the remaining reaction mixture, the feedstock and the catalyst composition; a step of keeping the homogeneously mixed reaction mixture material to be homogeneously mixed state and, with the mixture material remaining in the reaction zone, holding the mixture material at least about 0°C to polymerize the isobutylene in the mixture material to generate polyisobutylene; a step of extracting a product stream containing low molecular weight highly reactive polyisobutylene from the reaction zone; and a step of controlling introduction of the feedstock to the reaction zone and extraction of the product stream from the reaction zone so as to make residence time of polymerizing isobutylene about 4 min or less in the reaction zone. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
