[Class 64 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Heat exchange tubes are formed by attaching wire staples or the like to a core or support, which is either a metal of low melting point and an electrical conductor or if of wax, fabric, &c. is rendered conducting, and electrolytically depositing metal thereon so that on removal of the core by melting or burning it out the prongs of the staples are left projecting into the interior of the tube so formed. The support may be a rod 15, Fig. 3, of wax or soft metal in which staples &c. 14 are inserted, or may comprise card clothing 21, Fig. 4, provided with staples 22, wrapped around a cardboard tube 20, metal 10 or 24 being in either case deposited thereover in which the parts of the staples remote from the prongs become embedded. |
