<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission capable of suppressing friction and abrasion due to contact of a trunnion and yokes without increasing machining cost of the trunnion and the yokes. <P>SOLUTION: Opening sections to be closed of oil holes 74, 75 which is an oil channels for lubricating oil are arranged in respective end faces of the trunnion 15 facing yokes 23A, 23B. Contact members 83 contacting the opposing yokes 23A, 23B are attached to the opening sections. The contact members 83 close the opening sections of the oil holes 74, 75, prevents contact of the trunnion 15 and the yokes 23A, 23B, and suppresses the abrasion due to the contact of the trunnion 15 with the yokes 23A, 23B.
