<p>#CMT# #/CMT# Preparation comprises 15-50 wt.% of an isocyanate group-containing isocyanurate, 85-50 wt.% of n- or iso-alkyl benzoate and 0.01-2 wt.% of Mannich base. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is included for producing the preparation, comprising performing the trimerization of isocyanate group-containing isocyanurate in the presence of n- or iso-alkyl benzoate and in the presence of at least one Mannich base acting as catalyst in the temperature of 40-140[deg] C and terminating the trimerization by thermal decomposition of the catalyst or by adding a catalyst poison when the content of free toluene diisocyanate in the reaction mixture lies below 1 wt.%. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# The preparation is useful as an adhesion agent for coating composition based on plasticized polyvinyl chloride, where: the coating composition is useful for the manufacture of substrates; the coated substrates are useful as tarpaulins, billboards, air domes and other textile structures, flexible containers, tents, awnings, protective clothing, conveyor belts, carpet or foamed synthetic leather; the substrates have a basic framework based on textiles or fabrics; and the fabrics are textile polyester- or polyamide-fabrics (all claimed). The preparation is useful as an adhesion-promoting additive in the coating of substrates with reactive isocyanate groups, preferably in the coating of yarns, mats and fabrics of polyester- or polyamide-fibers. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The preparation is a clear, yellowish liquid that exhibits good storage stability, even after several weeks of storage. #CMT#ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Components: The amount of isocyanate group-containing isocyanurate is 20-35 wt.%. The preparation contains 80-65 wt.% of n- or iso-nonyl benzoate. The isocyanate group-containing isocyanurate is produced from a mixture of isomeric diisocyanatotoluene containing 65-95 wt.% of 2,4-diisocyanatotoluene and 5-35 wt.% of 2,6-diisocyanatotoluene catalyzed by phenolic catalysts containing dialkylamino groups and in the absence of aliphatic hydroxyl- and/or urethane groups. The n- or isoalkyl benzoate contains greater than 90 wt.% of n- or iso-nonyl benzoate. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# Desmodur T80(RTM: 2,4-Diisocyanato-1-methylbenzene) (180 parts) was trimerized with catalyst solution (1.5 parts) in Vestinol INB(RTM: Isononyl benzoate) (378 parts) at 55[deg] C. After 72 hours, the reaction was suspended by adding toluene sulfonic acid methyl ester (2.6 parts) and stirred at 60-70[deg] C for 3 hours to obtain a clear solution with an isocyanate content of 5.43%, a viscosity at 23[deg] C of 11.040 mPas and a content of free toluene diisocyanate of 0.31%.</p> |
