Antigenicity of peptides, polypeptides, proteids and proteins is evoked, increased or altered by the use of xenogenic nucleic acids (DNA or RNA). Pref. nucleic acids are from calf foetuses, although nucleic acid from other sources can be used. The xenogenic nucleic acids (which are themselves non-toxic and non-antigenic) increase antigenicity so that smaller amounts of antigenic (poly) peptide, proteid or protein are required to bring about the formation of antigen (e.g. in active or passive immunisation against injurious substances or tissues (e.g. cancer tissues) or pathogenic organisms or microorganisms such as viruses or bacteria).
|
