Photoconductive red lead monoxide layer - binder-free for max sensitivity

Particles are held together by red PbO bridges formed by sintering layer at elevated temp. with Pb salt (pref. nitratee which binds and attacks Pb oxide (e.g. PbO2 or Pb3O4) and hence leaves residue of red PbO. These layers can be used in X-ray and T.V. tubes. Elimination of organic binder of Zn additive prevents reduction in sensitivity, whilst layer can be made thick enough for X-ray tubes, sensitivity and response being adequate at thickness of 150-300 mu.
