<p>A medical event processing system 206 may identify patient information associated with a medical event and match the patient information to one or more of a health plan, a clinical location, a health-related study, or a utilization management system. Filtering and mapping is used to match the event. Upon matching the medical event with the interested parties, the central event processing system forwards at least a portion of the information regarding the medical event to one or more interested parties within a short period of time of the triggering event (e.g., in near real-time). For example, based upon rules associated with each interested party, the central event processing system may forward information and/or issue an alert or notification 230 to an interested party 234 to make them aware of the medical event. The alert may be an sms message, email, mobile application alert or facsimile message. The event may be an emergency room admission of a patient to a hospital and the third party may be a patients doctor. Determination may be made as to whether the patient has opted in to medical event processing.</p> |
