<p>An oxidation catalyst for treating an exhaust gas from a diesel engine. The oxidation catalyst comprises a substrate 5 having three washcoat regions 1, 2, 3. A first washcoat region comprises a first platinum group metal (PGM) and a first support material. A second washcoat region, adjacent to the first washcoat region, comprises a second PGM and a second support material. A third washcoat region comprises a third PGM and a third support material. The third washcoat region may be adjacent to the second washcoat region, with each region comprising a respective washcoat zone (figure 1). The third washcoat region may be adjacent to the second washcoat region, with the second washcoat region comprising an overlap between upstream and downstream washcoat layers (figures 3 and 4).
