<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the degree of freedom for the adjustment of a shelf by eliminating latching holes, which are not to be used, of a shelf support column constituted of a body and an extension member and having an extendable structure, and by enabling positioning of a shelf plate at over the whole length. <P>SOLUTION: The shelf support column 15 includes: a cylindrical body 71; an extension member 73 inserted to the body 71 and capable of sliding; and a fixation unit 77 regulating the sliding of the body 71 and the extension member 73 to set the whole length of the column. The structure of the shelf support column 15 is configured that, at the body 71 and the extension member 73, a plurality of locking holes 75 are formed with an equal pitch in a vertical direction for receiving locking claws 31 of a shelf support tool 25 and locking by dropping the locking claws 31 downwardly. Further, the support column 15 includes a support cylindrical body 87, formed to be a short length cylinder with an outer diameter and an inner diameter approximately the same as those of the body 71 and having an auxiliary locking hole 75C shaped identically with locking holes 75. The support cylindrical body 87 is fitted onto the extension member 73 slidably and is attached to the insertion opening of the body 71 freely.
