The invention relates to a computer implemented method of providing a search result in a recommendation system, the computer implemented method comprising: processing in an interest correlation analysis engine of the recommendation system a plurality of user profiles to identify co-occurring keywords that commonly appear together in a user profile, where each user profile is associated with a user of a social network; receiving from a search engine a search query entered by a user including at least one search term; and the recommendation system expanding the search query with additional search terms related to the search query, where the additional search terms are determined using one or more of the identified co-occurring keywords; and providing a search result.
