A method for generating a digital identity for an individual carrying an identification object comprising a security component, which method comprises the following steps: - entering an initial biometric datum (Bio) of the individual; - creating a digital reference datum (M0) derived from the biometric datum; - generating a datum (P1) via the security component of the object; - determining an initial digital identity (M1) by modifying the digital reference datum (M0) by the datum (P1) generated by the security component of the object. This digital identity indicates the uniqueness of the carrier-object pair. The identification object is thereby protected from theft and hacking by the biometric data associated with the digital identity borne thereby, without the possibility that this biometric data could be directly linked to the identity of the carrier of the object.
