A method for displaying two-dimensional slot machine images and simulating three-dimensions of the two-dimensional slot machine images in a graphical user interface used to interact with a virtual slot machine, the method being implemented on a handheld mobile device having one or more physical processors programmed by computer program instructions that, when executed by the one or more physical processors, cause the handheld mobile device to perform the method, the method comprising: obtaining, by the handheld mobile device, first sensor information that indicates a first orientation of the handheld mobile device; determining, by the handheld mobile device, a first three-dimensional effect to apply to a two-dimensional image that represents an object of a slot machine to simulate a first perspective view of the object based on the first sensor information; updating, by the handheld mobile device, the graphical user interface to apply the first three-dimensional effect to the two-dimensional image; receiving, by the handheld mobile device, second sensor information that indicates a second orientation of the handheld mobile device; determining, by the handheld mobile device, a second three-dimensional effect to apply to the two-dimensional image to simulate a second perspective view of the object based on the second sensor information; and updating, by the handheld mobile device, the graphical user interface to apply the second three-dimensional effect to the two-dimensional image.
