1321590 Cathodes for electro refining or electro winning ICI AUSTRALIA Ltd 19 April 1971 [4 March 1970] 23149/71 Heading C7B Metal such as Cu or Zn is electro refined or electro won by electro depositing from an electrolyte comprising the metal, e.g. CuSO 4 -H 2 SO 4 or ZnSO 4 -Na 2 Cr 2 O 7 -H 2 SO 4 , on to a metallic cathode plate, e.g. of Ti, Ti-Pd, stainless steel, Cu, Al or Zr, comprising two faces for the metal deposition and between them an edge to be kept free from metal deposition by a coating of non-conductive material, e.g. a polyolefin or copolymer thereof, polyvinyl or polyvinylidene chloride or fluoride, polyurethane, polyester, epoxy, alkyd or phenolic resin or synthetic rubber, covering the edge, and optionally overlapping from the edge on to part of both faces, along its immersed length ; the coating may also extend across the plate to cover part of the faces across at least part of its width. The electrolyte may contain 0À2 - 50 g/l of anti-corrosion additive. |
