A pneumatic tyre valve core, which is adapted to be secured within the tyre stem, comprises a hollow body 10, one end of which is formed with external screw-threads 14 designed to mate with corresponding internal threads on the stem, the other end of which is formed as a valve seat 24, and the intermediate portion of which is provided with a resilient sealing sleeve 16, the body having disposed therein a stem 22, one end of which has attached thereto, by a swivel joint 38, 42, a packing- enclosing carrier 26, the packing serving the function of a valve closure member when engaged upon the seat 24. The stem is guided by a washer 28 having three legs 30 inclined from the plane of the washer towards the seat, and the stem is formed, intermediate the washer 28 and carrier 26, with a tapered flange 35 such that, in operation, upon depressing the stem against the force of spring 34, the stem is guided and the unseating of packing 46 is ensured by engagement therewith of the flange 35. Upon returning to its seated position, proper orientation of the packing 46 with respect to the seat 24, is ensured by the provision of the swivel joint.</p> |
