The present application provides dental compositions, and methods of making and using dental compositions that include a calcium and phosphorus releasing glass. Such dental compositions can be useful for delivering ions to the oral environment.

1. A dental composition comprising:
an ethylenically unsaturated compound with acid functionality wherein the acid functionality comprises phosphonic acid functionality, sulfonic acid functionality, or combinations thereof; an ethylenically unsaturated compound without acid functionality; and a calcium and phosphorus releasing glass; wherein the calcium and phosphorus releasing glass is at least partially crystalline and comprises at most 5% by weight aluminum oxide.
