Techniques for project lifecycle staged-based access control are provided. Access control rights are defined for a stage of a project's lifecycle. As requestors transition to the stage, the access control rights are enforced on top of any existing security restrictions. In an embodiment, selective resources are not visible to requestors within the stage in response to the access control rights.

1. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having instructions executed on a machine, the instructions when executed performing a method, comprising:
receiving an authenticated identity for a requesting resource in response to authenticating the requesting resource when the requesting resource transitions to a first stage of a first processing environment, wherein the first stage is one of a plurality of stages of the first processing environment associated with a lifecycle of a project; acquiring access control rights associated with the authenticated identity for the first stage of the first processing environment; and enforcing the access control rights against the authenticated requesting resource in accordance with policies associated with the authenticated identity, wherein the policies map to portions of the access control rights to override existing security limitations of the first stage.
