Portable cleco type fastener dispenser

An apparatus for containing, transporting, dispensing and keeping an inventory of a plurality of same size cleco type fasteners has a tubular housing with an interior bore dimensioned to receive the plurality of cleco type fasteners through a proximal opening on the housing that is closed by a removable closure device. The distal end of the housing has a retention device that retains the forward most cleco type fastener inserted into the housing interior bore with a sufficient force that prevents the forward most cleco type fastener from being unintentionally removed from the housing distal end, but allows the forward most cleco type fastener to be manually grasped and pulled from the housing distal end.

1. An apparatus for containing, transporting, dispensing and keeping an inventory of a plurality of cleco type fasteners having annular flanges, the apparatus comprising:
a housing having a length with opposite proximal and distal ends, the housing having a cylindrical interior surface that extends around and defines an interior bore, the interior bore extending through the housing length and having a cross-section dimension that is larger than a cross-section dimension of a cleco type fastener of the plurality of cleco type fasteners, the housing having a pair of holes through opposite sides of the housing; a closure device removeably attached to the housing proximal end; and, retention devices on the housing adjacent the housing distal end, the retention devices including a pair of elongated strips of spring steel having opposite proximal and distal ends, the strip proximal ends are secured to an exterior surface of the housing on opposite sides of the housing with lengths of the strips extending along the housing length, the strip distal ends are formed as projections that extend through the holes through the housing and extend a distance into the housing interior bore to engage against a cleco type fastener annular flange in the housing interior bore and retain the cleco type fastener in the housing interior bore with a portion of the cleco type fastener extending from the housing distal end to an exterior of the housing, the lengths of the strips being resilient where with the strip proximal ends secured to the exterior surface of the housing, remaining lengths of the strips and the strip distal end projections can be deflected outwardly away from each other to allow the portion of the cleco type fastener extending from the housing distal end to be manually grasped and pulled and the annular flange on the cleco type fastener to pass between the strip distal end projections and out of engagement with the strip distal end projections, and resiliency of the strips then causing the strip distal end portions to return to at rest positions in the housing interior bore where the strip distal end portions engage against an annular flange of a remaining cleco type fastener in the housing interior bore and retain the remaining cleco type fastener in the housing interior bore with a portion of the remaining cleco type fastener extending from the housing distal end to the exterior of the housing.
