Disclosed are an apparatus and a method to diagnose accidental fire for a cylinder deactivation engine. According to the present invention, an apparatus to diagnose accidental fire for a cylinder deactivation engine includes: a deactivation determination unit determining whether a cylinder deactivation is being operated; a reference adjustment unit raising a reference to diagnose an accidental fire if the cylinder deactivation is being operated; and an accidental fire determination unit determining the occurrence of accidental fire using the raised reference to diagnose the accidental fire. |
