PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throat of a PS type converter for copper refining which can extend the lifetime of an outer wall iron plate around the throat by preventing dripping of molten metal in discharge.SOLUTION: A throat 11 is opened in an elliptical shape with both ends cut off in a nearly central part of a PS type converter 10 in the central axis direction, and is provided with a passage part composed of four outer wall iron plates arranged so as to surround the peripheral edge of the opening and refractory serving as lining for the outer wall iron plates. The four outer wall iron plates each have a bent part in which the outer wall iron plate is bent inward in the tip part. Among the four outer wall iron plates, the outlet iron plate 12 located lowermost during discharge has a bent part 12a subjected to a pack cementation treatment, and its nearly central part is bent relative to the outlet iron plate 12 at an angle of 45-85° and is bent gradually more toward both ends.
|
