PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side feeder in which the bulk density of a powder raw material is increased so that the conveying capacity of the side feeder is improved and the supply stability thereof is made excellent.SOLUTION: The side feeder includes a side feeder cylinder 2 and a side feeder screw 1 and has a side feeder supply port 3 being an opening of the side feeder cylinder 2. The side feeder screw 1 has at least one partial screw satisfying all of the following conditions (a)-(d). The condition (a) is that a twist angleγof the screw is 5-Z degree on condition that Z=eis satisfied. The condition (b) is that a ratio (D/d) of the major axis D of the screw to the minor axis d thereof is 1.4-2.5. The condition (c) is that Hb/D=0.05-0.4. The condition (d) is that a ratio (Ls/D) of the element length Ls of the screw to the major axis D thereof is 0.8-20.0.
