PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing ceramic coated graphite.SOLUTION: There is provided a method of producing ceramic coated graphite having electric resistance in the range from 10to 10&OHgr;/sq. by a sol-gel method, the ceramic coated graphite comprising graphite (A) and ceramic (B) chemically bonded to a lateral defect portion of the graphite (A).
