PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet processor and a paper sheet processing method capable of reliably sorting paper sheets.SOLUTION: The paper sheet processor includes: a conveyance path for conveying paper sheets; plural accumulation units for accumulating the paper sheets; an inspection unit that acquires detection data for sorting the paper sheets into the plural accumulation units; a determination unit that receives the detection data transferred from the inspection unit, and determines the accumulation unit to which the paper sheets to be conveyed based on the detection data in a time period until the paper sheet reaches at a final determination position on the conveyance path; a sort processing unit that sorts the paper sheets to a conveyance destination determined by the determination unit; and a control unit for determining whether any communication error has occurred during transmission of the detection data, if any communication error has occurred, determining whether re-transmission is possible, and if the re-transmission is possible, controlling the inspection unit to retransmit the detection data. |
