PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal actuator including fluid with high temperature stability, and a method of applying the same to gas turbine cooling systems.SOLUTION: A thermal actuator 1 includes an expansion material 4. The expansion material 4 is disposed generally within a closed end 22 of an enclosure 2. In this position, when the expansion material 4 expands or contracts due to the presence of high or low temperature fluid surrounding the enclosure 2, the expansion material 4 causes a movement of a movable element 3 toward a second position 32 in opposition to any load applied to the movable element 3. The expansion material 4 includes an ingredient mixture 41 that is provided in a single chemical composition that solidifies at a low temperature, and more specifically, includes an inorganic salt mixture. |
