PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission device which reports a change in a modulation system of sub carriers to an optical reception device.SOLUTION: The optical transmission device transmits an optical signal including a plurality of sub carriers each including a plurality of symbols. The plurality of symbols of the plurality of sub carriers include a data symbol for transmitting data and a report symbol which is associated with one or more data symbols for reporting a modulation system of the associated data symbols. The optical transmission device comprises: determination means for determining the modulation system of data symbols associated with the report symbol; and modulation means for modulating the sub carriers in such a manner that a value indicating the modulation system determined by the determination means is carried by the report symbol and that data are carried by the data symbols associated with the report symbol in accordance with the determination system determined by the determination means.
