<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction damper that can maintain uniform contact pressure of a friction surface while suppressing manufacturing costs low, and can make fine adjustments including an increase and a decrease in damping force and also relax temperature dependency.SOLUTION: A friction damper 1 includes: a first member 2 which has a friction material 3; a second member 4 which has a slide part 4a capable of moving relatively to the friction material while pressed against the friction material, and a pressure control chamber 4b filled with a fluid 5, and expanding as the internal pressure increases to strengthen press contacting between the slide part and friction material, or contracting as the internal pressure decreases to weaken the press contact between the slide part and friction material; and pressure control means for increasing and decreasing the pressure in the pressure control chamber. In the friction damper 1, the friction force generated between the friction material and slide part is controlled by controlling the pressure in the pressure control chamber by the pressure control means. The first member 2 may have a cylindrical friction material 3 and the second member 4 may have a cylindrical slide part 4a surrounding a cylindrical pressure control chamber 4b having no opening such that an inner peripheral surface of the friction material and an outer peripheral surface of the slide part may be in press-contact with each other.</p> |
