PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sorting system and a package loading method capable of suppressing the rotation of loaded packages.SOLUTION: A sorting system includes a package loading device that loads packages W. The package loading device includes a sending-out conveyor 11 on which the packages W are placed, a forward and backward moving device for moving the sending-out conveyor in direction A, and a control unit. The control unit controls a moving mechanism to move the tray 141A so that when the packages W on the sending-out conveyor 11 are sent out forward, the packages W come in contact with the inside surface 141a of the tray 141A disposed at the sending-out destination and the forward and backward moving device. After sending out the packages W on the sending-out conveyor 11 forward and causing the packages W to come in contact with the inside surface 141a of the tray 141A, the control unit moves the sending-out conveyor 11 backward by the forward and backward moving device while continuing the operation of sending-out the packages W by the sending-out conveyor 11.
