<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter which can accurately detect the number of rotations of a pinion without being affected by electromagnetic wave generated during operation of a motor, and which can be precisely controlled in restart even during inertial rotation of an engine after an idling stop.SOLUTION: Rotation number detection means which detects the number of rotations of a pinion has: a plurality of detection teeth 25a arranged on an outer periphery of a barrel part 5a of a clutch 5; and a detection coil 26 which is attached to a lever arm 7d of a drive lever 7 corresponding to the detection teeth 25a. Since the rotation number detection means is arranged in a position apart from a motor being a generation source of electromagnetic wave in the axial direction, the rotation number detection means can accurately detect the number of rotations of the pinion while being hardly affected by the electromagnetic wave which is generated during the operation of a motor. As a result, precise restart control can be performed even during the inertial rotation of an engine after an idling stop.</p> |
