PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide in-vehicle computing systems, and replacement of operating system software on such computing systems.SOLUTION: A method for selectively replacing a first in-vehicle operating system of a vehicle includes: receiving a temporary update including a second in-vehicle operating system for storage in a memory location of the first in-vehicle operating system; receiving a request to update the first in-vehicle operating system on the basis of the temporary update; and triggering a reboot of the first in-vehicle operating system including installing the second in-vehicle operating system.
