PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt cleaning device which effectively removes a liquid adhering to a transfer belt and achieves high durability.SOLUTION: A lifting unit 360 includes a cleaning roller 364 and a push-in roller 365. The cleaning roller 364 is formed by a liquid absorptive elastic material and is placed in pressure contact with a transfer belt 324. The push-in roller 365 elastically deforms the cleaning roller to the inner side and pushes in the liquid absorbed by the cleaning roller to the inner side of the cleaning roller. A drive mechanism 368 moves the push-in member and the cleaning roller close to and away from each other.
