<p>The present invention relates to a method for warning of the lifespan of a data storage device with a memory chip called a flash memory as a storage means and, more particularly, to a method for notifying whether it is possible to safely use a data storage device. The method comprises: a memory state information request step of requesting memory state information to a data storage device by a host which has the data storage device installed therein and has a service limit value thereof; a memory state information providing step of transmitting the memory state information to the host by the data storage device including the memory state information having a rewrite frequency value, according to the request of the host; and a notification step of notifying a user of a state of the data storage device with reference to the received memory state information. Therefore, when the life of the data storage device with the flash memory has ended, the method may warn a user of this. The method also enables a user to replace the data storage device at an appropriate time so that the user can stably use the data storage device according to the purpose of use of various devices which use the data storage device.</p> |
