PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a half-wave plate that can be used in a plurality of wavelength regions.SOLUTION: A half-wave plate 10 includes: a first quartz component 11 that corresponds to a quartz plate having a predetermined plate thickness T1; a second quartz component 12 that corresponds to a quartz plate having a plate thickness of T2 equal to 1.5×T1 of the first quartz component; and a third quartz component 13 that corresponds to a quartz plate having the predetermined plate thickness T1. Optical axes of the first, second and third quartz components are parallel to the major surfaces of the respective components. Angles of the optical axes of the first quartz component, the second quartz component and the third quartz component with respect to an X axis are from 25.5° to 26.5°, from -45.5° to -44.5°, and from 63.5° to 64.5°, respectively. |
