PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately evaluate ionic permselectivity of a rust layer.SOLUTION: In a method for evaluating the ionic permselectivity of the rust layer, membrane potential of a rust membrane is measured and the ionic permselectivity of the rust layer is evaluated on the basis of the membrane potential. In the method, the rust layer formed in a steel product by corroding the steel product is used as the rust membrane as it is.
