PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter having high NOx purification performance without excessively carrying a catalyst or without increasing a volume of the honeycomb filter.SOLUTION: A honeycomb filter of the present invention comprises porous cell partitions, sealed exhaust gas introduction cells, and sealed exhaust gas discharge cells, and an SCR catalyst is carried by the cell partitions. An average of a cross-sectional area of a cross section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of each of the exhaust gas discharge cells is larger than an average of a cross-sectional area of a cross section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of each of the exhaust gas introduction cells, and the total volume of the exhaust gas introduction cells is larger than the total volume of the exhaust gas discharge cells. |
