<p>PURPOSE: A composition for hair and scalp protective hair dyes is provided to enhance hair gloss without harm to human body using a Belamcanda chinensis extract and to relieve troubles caused by hair and scalp irritation. CONSTITUTION: A composition for hair dyes contains 0.01-30 wt% of an alcohol extract of Belamcanda chinensis or 0.01-30 wt% of a hot water extract of Belamcanda chinensis. The alcohol extract is prepared by adding 5-20 parts by weight of alcohol to 1 part by weight of Belamcanda chinensis and heating at 30-50°C for 8-12 hours. The used alcohol is selected among ethyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol, and polyalcohol. The hot water extract is prepared by adding 10-40 parts by weight of water to 1 part by weight of Belamcanda chinensis and heating at 60-90°C for 10-15 hours.
