PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault monitoring system configured to determine a fault of a harness member for connecting an electronic component and a signal device to each other, and to provide an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A faut monitoring system includes: a drive motor M6 for outputting a "High" lock signal when driven and a "Low" lock signal when stopped; a motor driver 75 which outputs an ON/OFF operation signal for issuing an instruction to drive or stop the drive motor M6; a harness member H6 which connects the drive motor M6 and the motor driver 75 to each other, to transmit/receive a signal; and a control circuit 70 which determines that the drive motor 6M is in normal operation when the "Low" lock signal is output with the ON operation signal, and determines that the harness member H6 fails when the "Low" lock signal is output with the OFF operation signal. |
