PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of obtaining an intended gradation representation on a print sheet with different sheet features, and an image processing method.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: a standard table storage part in which a standard table for gradation correction for a standard sheet is stored; a feature amount table storage part in which a feature amount table for gradation correction for a differential feature amount from the standard sheet is stored while being color-separated for each process color; a feature amount setting part for setting the differential feature amount between a print object sheet and the standard sheet; a feature amount table selection part which retrieves the corresponding feature amount table on the basis of the set differential feature amount and selects the feature amount table to be applied; a combined correction table generation part for generating a combined correction table by successively multiplying the standard table for the standard sheet and the selected feature amount table for each process color; and an image correction part for performing image correction on the print object sheet while using the combined correction table.
