<p>Acrylonitrile copolymers which can be dyed with acid dyes and contg. >=70% acrylonitrile are prepd. by copolymerising acrylonitrile, >=1 neutral comonomer, and unsatd. pyridine cpds. in aqs. soln. in the presence of a redox catalyst system consisting of H2O2 and thioglycol. Process gives white acrylonitrile copolymers which can be easily dyed with acid dyes. The catalyst system enables larger proportions of pyridine to be introduced into the copolymer, and provides copolymers with a good thermal stability.</p> |
