PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a uniform and a large-area colloidal crystal film, and a device therefor.SOLUTION: A method for producing a colloidal crystal film includes steps of: immersing a substrate having a hydrophilized surface into a growth vessel holding colloidal suspension; forming a seed crystal on the surface of the substrate by moving the position of a liquid surface of the colloidal suspension with respect to the substrate; covering the liquid surface of the colloidal suspension with a direct-placing lid; and growing a colloidal crystal film on the basis of the seed crystal by moving the position of the liquid surface of the colloidal suspension with respect to the substrate.
