<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a mechanism part such as a one-way clutch at a center part of a torque converter from being damaged by magnetic particles in magnetorheological fluid, and to prevent a seal means therefor from being damaged by magnetic particles. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetorheological fluid in which an amount of magnetic particles satisfying requested performance of a torque converter 1 is mixed is filled in a torque converter outer circumferential part positioned circumferentially outward of a seal means 11 (seal members 11a, 11b, 11c). The seal means 11 is arranged at a radial position within a range shown by an arrowα, which is radially inward than a shell chamber 12 and is radially outward than a one-way clutch 8 (specifically a sprag 8). When magnetic particles in the magnetorheological fluid receive centrifugal force during transmission operation of the torque converter and are gathered in the shell chamber 12, an annular buffer chamber 13 in which magnetic particles are absent emerges between the shell chamber 12 and the seal means 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
